Trained HELPLINE specialists are good listeners, blending understanding and expertise to provide information and referrals drawn from a comprehensive database of social services.
The 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE connected more than 1.4 million people with help in 2020. Top calls were for utility assistance and food, followed by help paying the rent or mortgage, medical services, and housing assistance.
With dedicated United Way THRIVE and veterans specialists on staff, 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE connects families and veterans with resources to meet their unique needs. 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE is also the information resource before, during, and after natural disasters, connecting people in need with up-to-the-minute information and critical services.
Need Furniture?
Houston Furniture Bank provides essential furniture to families in transition, thanks to the support of our community. In 28 years of service, we have helped 30,000 families. Following Hurricane Harvey, Houston Furniture Bank has provided assistance to over 3,500 families affected by the storm. In 2019, 1,000 families were able to select essential items from the Houston Furniture Bank Furniture Distribution Center.
